When is Easter?
To determine the date of Easter for any year (from 1900 to 2100), please type the year and click SUBMIT.
Easter is generally considered to be the most significant observance of the Christian faith. The date on which Easter falls varies from year to year. (In the Eastern Orthodox church, it falls on a different date, usually later than the Western date.)
Conventionally, Easter is observed on the first Sunday after the full moon that occurs after the spring equinox. However, this definition is a bit imprecise, so the actual date is determined by a rather complicated mathematical algorithm. In the Western calendar, it occurs from March 22 to April 25.
More information on the calculation of the Easter date is available from the U. S. Naval Observatory.
